Peanut Butter Cookies

More ‘Favorite Recipes’ envelope cookies from Grandma Falba–with a note on the top that probably means she thought chocolate chips would be a welcome addition.

Peanut Butter Cookies

4 eggs
1 C milk
2 C raisins
5 C flour
8 t baking powder
1 t salt
2 t vanilla

Cream sugar with shortening & peanut butter. Add eggs, raisins & milk. Mix well. Add sifted flour & baking powder & salt. Add flavoring. Drop by spoonfuls on well oiled baking sheet. 400° 12 minutes.  [added note across the top of the page “choc chips”]

I remember these cookies, but am not recalling the raisins. Raisins in a peanut butter cookie? Anybody in the family remember this recipe?

  1. I made a batch of these for the Packer/Seahawks game. I substituted dark chocolate chips for the raisins, and chocolate milk instead of regular (we were out of regular milk). This recipe made four dozen cookies…and they are yummy. About 13 minutes in my oven seemed to work best. And, the Seahawks beat the Packers in overtime. Wins all around!
